We went to Camp Cayuga on June 22nd and had a wonderful tour of the camp with Chas Rose and Tex who are on staff there.  Chas is an N.Y. aspiring actor and head of the drama department, and Tex is the camp photographer and High School history teacher during the school year.  I went to Camp Cayuga in the early 60's.  I was a camper, then Counselor In Training (C.I.T.), Junior Counselor, Senior Counselor, then head of the Arts and Crafts Program.  Cayuga is even more beautiful then it was in the the 1960's.  We had such a wonderful time visiting there.  It brought back so many great memories.  We also spent some time in Honesdale, which is a very cool little town in the Poconos where Camp Cayuga is located.
On June 21st we traveled to Nazareth, PA to tour the Martin Guitar Factory.  We brought Abby to the groomers for a doggy-spa-day, which gave us the afternoon to both see how these beautiful instruments are made.  Years ago, we toured the Fender Guitar Factory in Mexico, where they concentrated on electric guitars.  The Martin Guitar Factory makes acoustic guitars, some of their guitars are both electric and acoustic.  The process is very involved and interesting.  Rich has both an electric Fender and an acoustic Martin.  We have taken his Martin with us on our cross-country trip, so he can play it with Meir.
We left Michigan on June, 19th.  We had planned to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, but it just became to complicated with Abby, since it was a pretty hot day and we didn't have a safe place to leave her.  So we traveled on through Ohio, which we was about as exciting as Nebraska!  So, we moved on to Pennsylvania.  On June 20th, we went to Hershey, where we took turns watching Abby, so that we could tour the Hershey Museum....very sweet place!  In the afternoon we went to the Amish Country in Lancaster, where we strolled along the streets of the village.  We felt like we were in a different country with the horse and buggies clip-clopping by, but they did have excellent wi-fi connection.  Abby enjoyed seeing all the horses.  Go figure!
We spent lots of time walking the trails on Silverleaf.  The Pigeon River runs through their property.  Linda and I enjoyed shopping for pottery & all sorts of assorted knick-knacks, we even worked in a little lucheon at the local golf club, where I bought I beautiful handmade quilt. Rich & I, Linda & Greg and Nancy & Marty all enjoyed feasting on delicious bar-b-q's and meals with happy hours that we prepared together.  We had a great time with them and had a a hard time leaving them behind.  We toured around the area and discovered some very interesting and delicious places.  Michigan was definitely lots of fun!!
One of the many places we visited in Michigan was Mackinac Island.  This is where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet.  The only transportation on the island is by bicycle or horse and buggy.  We traveled there by ferry.  I felt like we had stepped back in time to the early 1900's.  The Grand Hotel is where the movie 'Somewhere In Time' was filmed.
We arrived in Michigan on June 4th and traveled all the way up north to Afton where our friends Linda and Greg Bedson are building their dream house on 250 acres of land that have been in their family since the 1940's.  Linda's sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Marty Ribar, were all there to greet us.  We stayed with them for two weeks.  During that time Rich, being the mensch that he is, helped Greg wire their new home "Silverleaf".  Rich, Greg and Marty ran close to a mile of wire in their beautiful new home.  We had a terrific time with them touring all over Northern Michigan.
Abby is being an excellent cross-country traveler.  She is making furry friends in so many states.
We then went to Chicago, Illinois for my very first time.  We headed to Lake Shore Drive and enjoyed walking along the beach of Lake Michigan.  We had lunch in Bob Chin's Crab House and toured around the city for the afternoon.

Vail, Colorado

We traveled through Vail, Colorado.  Very shee-shee.  From there we then went through the eastern portion of Colorado.  The western portion of the state is much more beautiful.  We then traveled through Nebraska, which is exceptionally flat, especially after the majestic Rockies.  We then traveled through Iowa, which was surprising beautiful with it's rolling hills and green farm land.  We are loving seeing so much of America.

We visited the Rockies at the beginning of our trip.

We have been traveling since May 30th.  It's been such a wonderful trip.  We left Arizona and headed up north through Flagstaff.  We traveled through Utah and the Rockies in Colorado.
